The Denver skyline glows as the sun sets on the first day of 2018. The clouds were picking up some nice color too. #PureColorado
Beaver Moon Over Denver
Sunbeam Stream
Prairie House Under the Milky Way
This is one of my favorite shots this year. It took my husband and I two times to locate this home. It sits a far distance off the main road and on a dark sky night it is nearly impossible to see unless you know where to look! We found it in the daylight and then waited for the stars to come out to photograph it. You could hear the coyotes in the distance! It was a little unnerving!
The lights on the horizon are the wind mill farms in Limon. The bright light over the tree is actually the crescent moon. The lights on the horizon to the left are from Denver, over 90 miles away. Light pollution travels very far.

Autumn Snow
A Road Less Traveled
Dizzy in the Dark
This image took some work. The first time we tried to find this house, we failed. It’s located a fair distance from the main road and we just couldn’t see it in the dark. So to be safe the next time, we left early enough to arrive during the daylight, it was easy to find in the daytime. While waiting for dark we drove around the countryside, it was refreshing to be in the prairie. We could see huge thunderclouds off in the distance which after sundown gave us a brilliant lightning show!
After the moon went down, the stars became brighter, I took about 40, 30-second images. At home I blended all the images to create this one image of the stars moving in the sky. Pretty cool yes?

Vrooommm!
There I was standing alongside the road, minding my own business when Vroom, out of the flowers flies Frontier! LOL, not really, I knew a plane was coming, I could hear it, but at this location is seemingly shoots out of the ground into the sky so fast, it’s actually difficult to find focus. Fun times photographing ordinary things in extraordinary locations.
