Keeping Up
They say the first 5 miles of the Horse Drive are the most dangerous. The horses want to run and they do! Here they are crossing the bridge, where shortly after everyone gets to take a break. From here on out the pace slows and we all get used to being together on the #GreatAmericanHorseDrive.
It might look like I’m standing right in their path, but no worries, I’m actually off to the side of the bridge, wedged between a couple of parked cars. The road curves as it exits the bridge, so this isn’t nearly as dangerous as it looks. Plus I’m shooting with a 200mm lens, f8, 1/2000 sec at 1000 ISO.
I like how the horses are looking right at me. They like having their picture taken!

Last One In
At the end of the #GreatAmericanHorseDrive the horses were let loose in the pasture. This poor old guy was enjoying the moment of being “home” finally and in no hurry to race up the hillside where the herd had gone minutes before.
