I’ve always loved this view and finally had an opportunity to capture it. What an active part of the city, truly the rail yard never sleeps.

How many Cities have a roller coaster in their skyline?
OK so my title is less than exciting, but at least the photo lends some drama. I went looking for a nice sunset behind the Rocky Mountains, but thanks to the heavy overcast, it never happened.
Instead a cloud formation over Denver intrigued me. I shot it instead.
Now I think I even like this one better!
Sunsets are not predictable. Sometimes they are awesome and other times the sun goes down quickly leaving no trace lest dissipating heat. Then there are the times when you think you missed the good one, only to find you are rewarded for waiting an extra few minutes.
The sun’s message; “never give up.”
The ritual of the sunset is practiced all over the world. I first noticed it on a trip to Key West, where at sun down the west end of Key West comes alive with buskers entertaining the tourists. We all watch the progress of the sun setting, when it was done applause ensued. A well earned applause it was.
Denver has many locations to watch this ritual. The front steps of the Natural History Museum are a popular place. I find I could sit there for most of the day, never moving just watching the show of clouds against the mountains and people strolling by.
