The spotlight focuses on the Rodeo Queen as we stand at attention singing the National Anthem.

Cowboys, cowgirls, horses, bulls, rodeo clowns and Old Glory….how much more authentic American can we get?

My spine tingles.

Another Pretty Face

The National Western Stock Show brings in approximately 17,000 animals to the Denver Coliseum each year. Walking around at first is a shock to the olfactory system but after a few minutes one actually gets used to it!

I enjoy watching the grooming of the farm animals. They take amazing care to clean, brush and dry enormous cows and bulls. Of course it’s all part of the show. Hundreds of thousands of dollars will trade hands this month as deals are made for stock.

It’s not a world that I am used to, but I find it most interesting.

The little sheep face sticks out in the crowd.

Draft Horses

Draft Horses are so stately, I love to watch how they pull a carriage with ease. They certainly were born to star in parades!

Longhorns on 17th

Once a year when the National Western Stock Show comes to town, they parade the Longhorns down 17th St. along with many of the stars from the Rodeo.

I love the sight of cowboys, horses and cows amongst the modern buildings.
