On my recent road trip to the western slope of Colorado, I captured scenic bliss that warms my heart on a chilly rainy day.

Mountain Majesty
Denver is so close to the mountains, that it only take s a few minutes drive before one can view majestic mountain peaks.
Fall color is painting the slopes, soon to be replaced with a dusting of snow. A preview of what is soon to come.
Second Best
OK so my title is less than exciting, but at least the photo lends some drama. I went looking for a nice sunset behind the Rocky Mountains, but thanks to the heavy overcast, it never happened.
Instead a cloud formation over Denver intrigued me. I shot it instead.
Now I think I even like this one better!
Fitness on the Rocks
The renowned Red Rocks where many a memorable concert has been performed is also the site of fitness classes.
This location is offers more than magnificient views of Downtown Denver and the plains, it’s altitude provides a challenge in just maintaining the proper amount of oxygen in the lungs!
I stopped by on invite from my very fit daughter. She told me what an amazing site this was and suggested I come photograph it.
She was right!
The Story is in the Sky
Watching the clouds is a favorite past time in the west. The weather can be seen approaching miles away, it rolls in and out providing an entertainment of a sorts.
Lightening
While trying to position for a night skyline shot, I captured a bolt of lightening. Funny, I didn’t realize the lightening was in the photo until I got home.
Dogs of the Prairie
Yes, they are cute. They can be seen alongside the highway and in open fields everywhere. They have a chirp-like pitch sound as they chat amongst each other.
It seems one could just walk over an pet them, not advised even if they would let you get the close. I’ve heard they are somewhat blind but have a great sense of smell.
I just know when I ride by on my bike they take cover as I pass. Like a well orchestrated symphony they pop down into their holes.
Guess I smell.
Denver Nightlife
Nightlife in Denver can be found on the west side of I-25 too. Just mosey on over the pedestrian bridge, go up one block to find several outstanding restaurants, all with outdoor seating on rooftop decks.
The view of the city skyline is romantic and inspiring.
That is unless there’s lightening.
A Denver Landmark
A stately landmark that looks like something it isn’t would be the Millenium Bridge. Built to connect the city with the River Front, from afar it looks like the mast of a ship but gives us safe passage over the very busy railroad tracks below.
